Cass County is located in the southernmost part of Michigan, about 25 miles east of Lake Michigan. Normally, this means Cass County receives abundant “lake effect” snow. The bountiful snow has made Cass County one of those popular Michigan destinations for snowmobiling for many years because of the wooded and open terrain, and over 6,000 miles of maintained trails that provide some of the best snowmobiling in the Midwest. This has not been the case for the last couple of winters. Global warming may have affected our snowfall, but we are always hopeful next winter will bring more snow.
The Edwardsburg, Michigan Snowmobile Club is the largest and most active group of snowmobile enthusiasts in Cass County. The club was started in 1970 to promote safe snowmobiling and the club and its members currently care for 99 of the over 200 miles of trails in the county.
